Our Staff

Tanya Lakins LMT, CST, NMT, Owner 

Tanya Lakins, LMT has been a licensed massage therapist for over 20 years. Tanya has worked in several types of wellness facilities and with chiropractors throughout her 20+ years. She decided the best way to help others was to own her own wellness facility and True Balance was a dream that came to fruition in 2016. Tanya has always had a passion to help others. Tanya spent 10 years in the US Marine Corp and after leaving, grew a desire to focus on veterans health and wellness. Tanya volunteers for several veteran programs.  Tanya also teaches massage courses at Wellspring School of Allied Health. 

Sarah Fruetel, MSOM, L. Ac

Sarah Fruetel MSOM received her Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Chattanooga in Tennessee.

During her undergrad she was inducted into the Tri-Beta Honor and Golden Key Society.  She also won a Scholar in Residence Award while maintaining the position of the Secretary of University’s Martial Art’s Club. Her position as secretary allowed her to travel to China with her Tai ji instructor in 2000 and in 2004.

 

Greatly inspired, Sarah decided to pursue the field of Chinese Medicine, moving to Boulder, CO to enroll at Southwest Acupuncture College. After completing the graduate program and national board exams, she now holds a degree for Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine, Certification in Clean Needle Technique, National Certification in Acupuncture and Herbology and licensed to practice in the state of Missouri.

 

While working on her Master’s, Sarah was a part of the Acupuncture Association of Oriental Medicine, interned under two acupuncture and herbalists and worked in a pharmacy of Chinese herbs.

 

Sarah started her own practice in 2012 at Back and Bodywork Massage in Gladstone. In 2019 Back and Bodyworks closed their Gladstone location and True Balance was lucky enough to have Sarah has relocate here. Since then she has helped endless clients find the magic of healing through Traditional Chinese Medicine as Kansas City Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.  "When you touch one thing with deep awareness, you touch everything."

Sadie Zipsie, LMT

Sadie is a licensed, certified graduate of Wellspring School of Allied Health. After experiencing the benefits of holistic health for herself, Sadie became inspired to facilitate healing for others who struggle with stress, chronic pain, or simply want to begin improving their overall quality of life.  Sadie does so through the integration of advanced massage techniques such as myofascial release, deep tissue, hot stone, and neuromuscular trigger point release therapy. These techniques are paired with a peaceful environment and branch from a relaxing and nurturing Swedish massage routine.

Debbie Wentworth,  Owner/Manager

Debbie Wentworth received her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology in 1989. After college she become the director of Antioch Child Care Facility in Kansas City.  She spent 10 years as director and child care provider before deciding to change jobs. She then went to an Insurance agency where she became an insurance agent for carnivals, amusement parks and fun center facilities.  Tanya Lakins asked her to co-own and manage the facility that she wanted to open called True Balance Massage & Wellness.  Debbie felt it was a good opportunity to be able to spend more time with her children and so True Balance Massage and Wellness was born in 2016.
